Vision 2025 headline supporter, Continest was announcing its new UK distribution partner, Cube International Group, just weeks ahead of the UK’s government lockdown.
In the weeks preceding lockdown Cube and partners found themselves at the frontline, facing the challenges of developing a sustainable sanitisation solution. They combined their event logistics, retail display design and manufacturing capabilities, to supply temporary hand sanitisation stations to Twickenham for the England v’s Wales 6 Nations match and to the Jockey Club for the Cheltenham Festival. Since lockdown restrictions began the ‘Don’t Pass it On’ hand sanitiser stations are in demand with clients beyond the events industry – with schools, NHS facilities, retail outlets, offices and manufacturing plants using the transportable, re-fillable, own-brandable units as a sustainable alternative to single use plastic bottles of hand sanitiser and non-biodegradable antiseptic wipes.
Cube Modular’s managing director Brandon Weston, explains how things progressed as the events sector closed for business:
“We applied our sustainable business model based on re-use and minimising transport impact – from our (Award Winning) Continest foldable containers to the problem ‘in hand’. Hand sanitation is a key part of the anti-Covid-19 action. Having already serviced two huge events, we spoke to our contacts and set to work creating a sustainable product that could support the wider society.
“Within a week we launched the ‘Don’t Pass it On’ hand sanitiser station project. Since March I’m delighted that we have built an incredible client base outside the events industry for our transportable, re-fillable units – from schools and NHS facilities to retail outlets, offices and manufacturing plants. The units are custom branded, with clear messaging and replace the need for single use plastic dispensers.”
The team are currently modelling a Covid safe approach live events that incorporates sustainability and safety.
